Dear Lawnsidians

We had a very lively, if small, gathering of LOGA on 5th June, when we adopted a constitution in order to fulfil the bureaucratic conditions for having a bank account!

A decision was taken to have a last purely LOGA Reunion on 19th March 2011 and thereafter the association would apply to join the overarching association of Malvern Girls’ schools OGAs, organised by Malvern St James. I know this will come as a surprise to many Old Lawnsidians, but with so few active members, our association is uneconomic and will eventually run out of funds. And there are many positive reasons for this move, Malvern St James has been very welcoming towards LOGA. Their Archivist Elisabeth Rambridge has not only taken Lawnside archives into her care but has shown great enthusiasm and understanding towards us.

It was thanks to Elisabeth that I was able to send out news of Mary Dixey’s death to OGs and the subsequent letters. By a strange quirk of fate, Elisabeth’s grandmother was Mary Toppin, youngest of four Toppin girls, all Lawnsidians.

Malvern St James has offered to host our reunion on 19th March 2011. Since Lawnsidians have always taken an active part in interschool activities and sports this would seem a logical amalgamation. I look forward to seeing you next spring, and to a new future for Old Lawnsidians.

Yours affectionately
Duseline Stewart
